Roof cleaning in Barrow
The Moss Boss provides specialist roof cleaning and roof moss removal services throughout Barrow and surrounding Rutland villages. We safely remove moss, algae and debris using our compressed air roof cleaning system without the use of aggressive pressure washing methods. Roof moss is a common issue throughout Barrow due to damp weather, nearby trees and shaded roof surfaces that encourage moss growth over time. If left untreated, moss can trap moisture against roof tiles, contribute towards blocked gutters and leave properties looking untidy. Our roof cleaning service is designed to improve the appearance of roofs while helping maintain their condition long term. We also provide professional biocide treatments to help prevent rapid moss regrowth and keep roofs cleaner for longer after the initial clean.

Roof Cleaning
Stage 1
The roof is covered heavily in moss and the roof is badly discoloured.
We start the process by air scrapping and brushing each individual tile to remove the moss, algae & lichen.

Post Scraping
Stage 2
The Once the moss has been removed from the roof, we than apply the roof with a leading biocide chemical.
The biocide cleaner begins working immediately, killing of any algae, lichen and mossy remains

Post Spraying & Aftercare
Stage 3
After the roof has been sprayed, we leave this to allow the cleaning process to continue.
For stubborn dirty roofs the full cleansing process can take up to 9 months. However a visual difference is usually seen within the first few months.
We offer an annual retreatment programme to help keep the roof clean and moss free.
This annual programme is available at a fraction of the price.
Facts about Barrow
Barrow is a small rural village located within Rutland and is surrounded by open countryside and mature vegetation. The village contains a mixture of traditional stone properties, farmhouses and detached homes which are commonly affected by roof moss growth due to shaded conditions and damp weather throughout the year. Many roofs across Barrow develop heavy moss build-up on north-facing elevations and beneath overhanging trees, particularly during wetter seasons. Rural villages such as Barrow often experience increased debris accumulation within gutters and roof valleys during autumn months. Nearby locations we cover include Cottesmore, Market Overton, Exton, Oakham and Langham. Rutland’s countryside setting creates ideal conditions for moss and algae growth, making regular roof maintenance increasingly important for homeowners throughout the county.
